6 Secret Tips to Stress Free Party Planning
1) KISS – Keep It Simple Silly!
Party planning shouldn’t be stressful, after all parties are all about having fun! So try to have a little fun with the planning part of it as well. Get started early and keep several well organized and updated to-do list at all times. You can even use a spare calendar to mark specific by which certain action items should be completed. This way you’ll never fall behind and can avoid the last minute scramble.
2) Download a Party Planning Checklist
This thing will be your guide when it comes to navigating the ups and downs of party planning. Check out these user-friendly checklists:
3) Organization, Organization, Organization! (Did we mention organization?)
Did we mention organization?I know we said “keep it simple,” but organization doesn’t necessarily mean extra work. In fact, proper organization often leads to less work as well as less stress. To stay organized, we suggest a binder with tabbed dividers to separate your to-do lists. Different categories that generally make good lists are: 1) pre-planning, aka researching vendors and venues, 2) running guest list with contact info and any dietary restrictions, 3) shopping lists, 4) more detailed plans once vendors/venues are chosen and 5) last minute to-do items. By writing the last minute tasks down ahead of them, they become planned tasks and, as such, are less stressful.
4) Pick a Theme
Now, this isn’t strictly necessary, but a theme helps tie everything together and really keeps you more focused. Instead of wading through hundreds of catering companies, you can focus on, say, those that specialize in Hawaiian-themed food. A theme is the easiest way to make a party seem much more complex and detailed than it actually is, so while your guests are ooh-ing and ahh-ing, you can sit back, soak in the compliments and relax.
5) Simplify Your Invites
There are many options to choose from when it comes to invites. From e-vites to traditional snail-mail invitations and even hand delivered notes, invitations let you channel your inner creative. Websites like paperlesspost.com and tinyprints.com are great for almost any party. Of course, with plenty of you can always diy some invitations if you want, but the stress-free way would be to simply buy generic ones at Wal-Mart et al. or order them online or from a photo kiosk. Send your invites out and you’re almost ready to party!
Everything is done! All that’s left to do is enjoy your outstanding, one-of-a-kind, fantastic and altogether stress-free party! Grab a glass and enjoy some of that Hawaiian slow-roasted ham and freshly squeezed pineapple juice and just have fun, or start planning your next party.
